so i used to use the create a system image function which is the windows recovery option which was great for me until the last few times i attempted to recover my HDD in order to do this it would either require me needing to be able to boot into the windows recovery environment or if that was not an option i would need to use recovery media to boot into the environment. Marshell Wooley, i will start off by telling you why i believe cloning a harddrive/solid state drive became more convenient for me as to rescue media. If your XP OS is running slow, and your motherboard has room for more memory chips, you can get a drastic improvement in performance. I have not done that recently, but at least just a few years ago, that still was the case and likely still is. Users could download the 64-bit edition of the OS and install it using their 32-bit XP license key. The 圆4 OS was first introduced as a later edition of Windows XP. Therefore, expect to see the Program Files (x86) folder for no telling how long. Microsoft's concept was that there would not be a lot of continued development of 32-bit programs, and eventually the Program Files (x86) folder could be phased out. When the 64-bit OS came out, it took over the "Program Files" folder and introduced the "Program Files (x86)" folder for 32-bit programs. Why?īefore the 圆4 bit OS came along, the folder for all programs (which were all 32-bit programs) were installed into "Program Files" without any x86 designation (not including W9x/Me). >".If it only shows the (X86) folder, then it is the 32 bit version."Īn older computer could have "Program Files" without any other designation.
